In the event of a natural disaster such as a hurricane, flooding, or other natural disaster, relief services rely heavily on Matthew 25 volunteers in collaboration with the efforts of Catholic Charities, USA and network of Catholic Charities within other dioceses of Louisiana. Matthew 25 volunteers help their parish:
- Secure sacramental records and other irreplaceable items
- Educate parishioners about disaster preparedness
- Help homebound people prepare their homes before a storm arrives
- They may help at local shelters
- Distribute disaster recovery food, water and supplies, conduct pastoral visits, and continue shelter volunteering
Matthew 25 volunteers are at the heart of our Catholic presence in our disaster preparedenss and response ministry.
